Shattered Kingdoms

Over the next few days, I'll be implementing a number of measures to counter spam bots which have attacked our forums over the last few months. The first few steps have already been completed (visual confirmation feature when registering, hiding the memberlist area).

If you have any problems with the system, please don't hesitate to contact me either via the forums, or via the WIZLIST command in-game.

Please note that old, unused forum IDs will most likely be culled during this process as well.

Various measures are now in place to deal with spam and automated profile registrations. More will be added.

About 1,200 inactive and invalid user records - some created back when the forums started in 2002 - have been culled. So far I believe the only negative side-effect is one signature that had foreign characters (reset your signature using the Profile link at the top, if it was you). If you believe you've encountered other issues, please send myself and/or Dulrik a private message via the forums.

The forums are back online after some extended maintenance and upgrades.

Some changes have been reversed while we continue to monitor the performance. The additional features that were turned off will be gradually re-enabled over the next few days, to ensure none of them are causing us issues.

Signature Changes

* Signatures are no longer displayed if the viewer is not logged in to the forums.
* User signatures are hidden by default - change your profile setting if you wish to display them.
* Signatures are limited to two lines (i.e. one line break only). Longer text will be replaced with (line count exceeded).

The forums will shortly be locked for a scheduled maintenance window. Please be patient until they come back online.

The forums are now back online after a major upgrade. We're slowly bringing the formatting back to the intended Shattered Kingdoms styling and also bringing the additional components online, for example the FORUMID command may not update memberships for a day or two.

I've created a thread in the Pantheon forum for you all to provide feedback, and if there are any serious issues feel free to send me a PM or email (use WIZLIST in-game, under 'Administrators').

The FORUMID command should be back online now. Interestingly the old code was busy churning away so there isn't actually any "backlog" as such. If you don't have access to the forums you need, please use the following commands to reapply your access:

I'll post here again when we have the new styling and formatting completed.

Please note that hotmail.com is currently rejecting some email from shatteredkingdoms.org, with a vague reference that our server exists in a block list somewhere. We've checked the Internet email exchange block lists that are commonly used (e.g. spamhaus and many others via mxToolbox) and our server is not listed in any of them. We cannot see any valid reason why our server email traffic would be rejected.

In closing, please be aware that if you are using a hotmail address you may not be receiving email due to hotmail's own incorrect spam filtering.

Addendum: To update your address, update both "E-mail Address" and "Confirm e-mail Address" fields in your account profile settings panel
