Correct spelling is persuade, and the help files first few lines state:

Was gonna post the two help fiels but it has already been done, notice the references to fast-talking and talking the person into doing something.

So how should a bard's use of mind-control magics, however implemented, not be illegal? I can definitely see the logic behind the law.

Besides, you could as easily argue that spells like charm person involve little more than one character saying something to another in a soothing tone of voice.
