Follow Wert's Manifesto and do as much of the work yourselves before approaching the right IMM. Figuring out how to make coin is an adventure in and of itself. Basically, every city has at least one place where you can sell stuff, some at better rates than others. General agreement though is that the Mercenary Guild is the best place to sell armor and weapons and the Leprechauns are the best place to sell jewels/jewelry/anything shiny. However, everywhere will only accept one of any particular item and they all get overstocked rather quickly. So, the rest is pretty much learn on your own what items you can collect easily that are saleable items and where you can sell them at the best profit.
