Basically you earn mentor points through helping newbies. Once a month, you will be awarded a stat point if you have earned enough mentor points.

Does the record of newbie helping reset each month? Or do they stay and stack up as you mentor, kinda like xp does?

You keep accumulating mentor points until they are spent on a stat point.

My strong advice for getting a mentor point often is be sure to offer level trains to your students. Teaching them a skill is only half the job mentoring can do. Mentoring someone in level shows that you are investing time and effort into helping them progress not just train, dump and run. Also you can mentor anyone in a level not just those of your own class.

Is gaining an Att point an automatic thing?

That is the message you will receive if you gain an att point.

It's in pink and everything, too.

And you get a birthday cake with half as many candles as your character's old plus a random number between one and ten.
