Have I just been unlucky, and not run across a song trainer yet, or is there some special way to train songs in SK?

Songs work like all spells and skills in terms of training, but because of their unique nature, it's harder to find trainers for them.

Songs are at the same time the easiest and hardest things to train and master. However Jada is right. Ask shopkeepers, innkeepers and bards if they can train you in something. There was a huge boom of characters were bards about four months ago so ask players IC as well.

It is easy enough to find a trainer for the type of songs, like songs of war, songs of protection, magic, ect. The trainers will only teach you one set of lyrics for that song. My understanding is that you can learn other lyrics to the same song from different PC bards.

I've found starting a bard in Ayamao is helpful, there's a trainer there that teaches most of the starting bard lyrics. And that's my two cents.

DWARVES !!! Anyway to train a new song you can use a mentor or a trainer. It is trainned just as normal to get your skill level up. For different songs of the same type you need a mentor. Who has Superb the song you wish to learn. Then they can teach you lyrics.
