Ok, this is most probably a really stupid question, sorry.

I've just started this MUD and I'm stuck in a hallway. Seems like there's no way to get out at all. Any ideas?

Also, I have an object in each hand and when I drop one in order to wear something, the info says that I'm still holding the object....?

I am sooo confused!

As for getting out make sure there isn't something that is described as "portal", or "door".

As for the holding thing I'm not sure what the problem is there. Maybe try to remove all, then wear what you need again.

Also, the mentor system can help with these queries. Type mentor and press return.

There isn't a portal or a door though, just a hallway with certain exits closed.

I hope this didn't happen to you, but sometimes you can get stuck in places where there is no real exit. Once this happens, you have a few options. You either *recall*, use a spell that will get you out, or bash the doors. (Assuming they're locked. If not, you can just open them. If you get a message saying something like "You can't do that" type the whole word, like "open southwest" rather than "open sw".) If your still stuck, try IC or OOC asking for advice. Most anyone on here is willing to help as much as they can.

As far as wearing stuff, you must "remove <item>" before you can drop it. Dropping things only applies to whats in your *inventory*, and not what you wear. So, if you want to, say, remove a sword, you just type "remove sword" and then just "wear <item>" that you want.

PS: Also keep in mind some places won't let you recall from them, so you have to do other things to get out.
PPS If no player is able to help you, try using a *pray* to snag one of the IMMs. They dont' always respond, but if one is available, they'll help you out.

As said, when in doubt, <pray> to see if an IMM can help you out. For getting used to the game, and figuring out the various quirks, it's an invaluable tool. It may take some time, but it's worth the effort to get past these little bugs. SK's quite the game.

You could also be holding something in your wield hand, might want to wield your weapon first.

That has happend to me, a few times too.

Peraps you need to read the basic help files again, looking for commands like wear, remove, open etc Type help and see what you can read.
