I too have recently made a HUMAN alt that started out with 4 stat points, and I commented on this to Achernar.

Feature, not a bug. Dulrik made it so that if you max any stat in the creation questions, it gives you a free attribute train for any more points going into that stat. (It used to be those were just lost attribute points.)

Yes, this happens with griffons a lot, since they start with pretty good stats. But it happens with other races as well. A hint though: There are very few stats you would want to max out, instead of using equipment bonuses.

I'd believe you if Dulrik hadn't just said himself that he was trying to make that feature obsolete.

It sounds familiar actually. Although it's also true that at one point I did recalibrate the stats so that races couldn't max out. After 12 years of coding this game, I don't always remember what changes have been made without referring to the code or my notes. And I often make these forum posts at work, where I don't have access to those things.

I don't know if its a balance thing or something. But a giant warlock starts with 5 stat trains.

It's not a balance thing. Your answers to the creation questions affect your stats. However, they can't raise your attributes above the maximum for your race. Thus you get the attribute points back as stat trains.

BTW, a giant warlock is under a severe disadvantage, in that he can't conjure an elemental until he's old and grey. (Maximum intelligence is really bad, as you might expect.) Unless you're in it solely for the RP, consider another character concept. If you're looking for the combination of warlock and larger-than-average race, both centaurs and griffons can be effective. If you want a giant spellcaster, I'd look into a shaman.
