Gnomes have always had names that are some ridiculous combination of two words in some fashion. Since Fizzlecrank is a gnome I think his name is rather appropriate even though it is clearly fizzle and crank combined(Two very random words if you ask me). If it was something like "Frostwolf" or "Deadlysamurai" then I'd have a problem.

I agree that that Fizzlesomething name is quite alright. I sort of like it as well, and as mentioned before, gnomes do have such strange name combos etc.

Dwarves have such surnames as well. Gulthar StoneSplitter, Thragram GutShaker etc etc.. But since they have surnames of such making, there is no rule violation there is it? :)

At any rate, I would not stress over this rule unless I saw something very very striking and common.

When it is without context and not profoundly stupid, I don't have a problem with it.

Delaer and Frolith are still school-examples of stupefying stupidity.

I have to go with what someone else said regarding recycled names too. I know about 10 other people with my name. And about 20 Johns to be honest. I know tons of people with the same name. So it's not outside of any realm where some names just grow popular after a time.

Like Slayne would be popular but he would own you so bad you'd wish your momma never named you that. Or other great leaders like Maximilian or some of the others. People put up minimal fuss over Yulig. And I agree there shouldn't be any.

The only fuss I think is if there is blatant violations, or if there are enough complaints about such a name.

Also comical names shouldn't be screwed with to much unless they are really horrible. My favorite would be Finn MaGuiness, the dwarves title? Because I lost it. I get a chuckle often when reading it.

People can preach for harder enforcement and at the same time for leeway. I say go by what I said, unless the IMM thinks it's horribly wrong or there have been multiple complaints (I say multiple because sometimes some people are easily offended where as many others might not even know it's offensive when they use the word in a name) should anything even be thought into, and even then I don't think deletes should be given out unless you can prove it was purposeful ie Gandalf.

W will in almost all cases offer a player the chance to get a new name before anything punitive is even considered. That solves 99% of this stuff, and yeah, its mostly common sense.
