I'm just starting this game, so any help would be appreciated. When I type "score" it tells me "you may advance to the next level". This is a nice thing to know, but it doesn't exactly say how anywhere in the help files. Could you help?

You have to find a trainer NPC and use the command 'train level' in order to gain a level. There is one in every newbie area so it shouldn't be a problem. If you want to find out what a trainer can train you just type 'train' and you'll see a list, if it says level in that list, it means the trainer can advance you.

Very simple.

A few options:

1. Quick and easiest - Goto the academy trainers, drill instructors, healers, etc., type in the command 'train', some of them allow 'train level' that advances.

2. Sometimes rewarding - Goto an inn, or while still in the newbie area, type in the command 'mentor', this attempts to locate a suitable player character that may assist.

Generally seeking out a mentor may yield better results. A suitable mentor can teach skills better than NPCs and they often do not charge coins. They may also feel generous and provide weapons, armor and other essentials.

Good luck!

This is the kind of thing that would have driven me crazy playing a new game, except I would never have been able to ask for help. :P If you need any other help, do not be afraid to ask ICly in game or OOCly here. We are all.. well most of us...

Some of us are good people.

Yep. As others have said, to train levels, skills, spells and attribute points (ie your str, con, dex, wis, int and cha) you need to find trainers. Typing train will show you a list of what they are able to train as far as level, spells and skills; typing train stat will show what attribute points he or she is able to train.

Then to train a skill/spell/level: type train X. (ie train level or train dagger).

To train an attribute point type train stat X (ie train stat con or train stat int).

Also, the mentor command is a good way to get advice or training from PCs. Mentors can help you train your level, your skills/spells, explain where to get equipment, where to level, or just to RP with!

Welcome to SK! We love new players. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do. :P

Hey all,

I'm Shakuru's player and I've received a bunch of help from the players. Thanks all for helping out. I just had a question about alignment and experience. If your char is light-aligned, and you hunt things that are also light-aligned, would you incur any penalties exp-wise or alignment-wise? If so, how can one know how what alignment the NPCs they are hunting?

Thanks!

(PS. Sorry if my English isn't very good...)

You get an exp bonus for killing opposite aura NPCs. So a light alignment character would ideally be killing dark aura NPCs.

There is also RP restrictions on light alignment characters. If you know certain NPCs are of light aura 99% of the time it would be against RP to kill them (ie innocent villagers, priests minding the temples of the light gods, slaves). If you are not a class that can detect aura, try to use common sense. Also, you can ask your mentors where you could go to purify evil at your strength. I'm sure they'll have lots of good places. :)

Welcome to the game! I'm glad everyone is being helpful.

I've updated all these pages to be in line with the design of the rest of the website.

Enjoy.
