Is there anything that can lead to a deterioration in the level at which you know spells? Cause I'm pretty sure I was "superb" at flying two hours ago, and now I'm not. What's the deal? I've been looking for stuff in the Zhefnur Forest if that makes any difference, which I guess it does. Some enchantment or rather?

And is there any way to rectify this, or is it back to the training grounds so to speak?

Are you wearing any armor that is heavier than you should? (ie a sorcerer wearing light or heavy armor or a warlock wearing heavy)

Check to see if you are wearing any armor above your armor class.

If you're a light armored class and you wear heavy armor for example it reduces your proficiency in your spells.

Believe it or not, I had looked there. I just automatically assumed, from having played D&D-type computer games, that it meant an increase in spell failure. Of course this is also what happened, but I thought my spell aptitude was decreasing rapidly the more I used a given spell -- a rationale more or less akin to Johnny Bravo's in the episode where his VCR resets itself and he deduces that time must've stopped for everyone but himself.

A folly on my part, and thanks for clearing it up. :)
