Yea, I realise that you can be resurrected, I just find once I die I have no will to play further. I dunno, I like the theme, I like the code...I just can't seem to stick with a pc. I'm going to put some thought into the next one when I get home from work. Hopefully stick with it..

edit ; thanks for all the advice, keep it coming! *chuckle* was just what I needed..

I was like that too actually, and I still kind of am. Alot of times when I die I feel like I was cheated. Like if I go to the bathroom or something and I come back and find myself dead. I have a hard time not deleteing. My current char has only died twice and that was in PK.

I'm sorry to say this though, because SK is a great game, but if you expect to play this game without ever dying you won't last long. I've only got about 100 hours on my current character and he's yet to "die" outside of PK. Talk to me again if I hit 1000 hours, I'll probably have lost count of how much I've died by then.

Seriously, you might have to accept a bit of death for the sake of fun. A good character shouldn't just be flushed because say you went to make a a sandwich and an aggromob like a toad in the chancel walked in and killed you.

Getting your stuff back from dying while leveling/exploring unless you died in the outer planes, should never be too big of a deal. It's definitely a pain, and I often log out after I get it back, but it's never too big of a deal. Never be afraid to ask for help, no matter what aura you are. People are often bored and will aid, especially if you're a newbie/lowbie. The same trip that might take you a half hour walking naked and unarmed, walking into ticks etc., might take your helper a less than a minute. Fly is beautiful.

Plus, you almost always get your stuff back in dungeons. PK is a whole other pain in the [REDACTED], when you lose. If you ever get into that, my only advice is: roll with it. Unless you're a huge wussy who hides all the time, or a huge twink who basically never dies, a Buddhist approach is the only way to deal with PK. You are not your eq. PK giveth, and PK taketh away.

Even if you decide not to play your character, there is -never- a good reason, ever, to "rage delete." Even if you genuinely plan on leaving the game for good. I'd love to make a thread entitled, "Have you tried to quit SK before?" and see the replies from people still here.

Imagine losing a soccer game for some annoying reason, maybe a bad ref call, maybe some player on your team was playing badly, maybe the other team was just way better than you, maybe you just didn't play well because of how you slept last night. Whatever. Then imagine getting so mad that you throw your only soccer ball into the ocean. Now let's pretend it's going to take you 100+ hours of your life just to go to the store and buy a new soccer ball. Do you see the absurdity? Even if you're pissed off, you can still put the ball in a ****ing closet or something. Despite this obvious silliness, a number of veteran players still have tantrums and throw their soccer balls into the ocean; as if the soccer ball is the huge problem here, and buying another will fix everything.

It should also be noted that you can create as many characters as you wish without deleting the others. If you never log back onto them, they'll be auto-deleted after some time. So, even if you have the itch to roll another, there's no reason to get rid of your current. You never know when you'll want to pick it back up again.

(The only caveat to this is if you join a cabal or tribunal with a certain character. You can only ever have one character in a cabal or tribunal, so if you want to take another into an organization that character either needs to be uninducted first or deleted.)

It helps to always include character's name in the first tell. There's a lot of players who have the habit of sending a single word "Greetings". Person receiving the tell may not have infravision, could be blinded by whatever means at the time, or just having multiple conversations.

To me, it seems like a personal method of communication, as if you should at the least know someone before using a link like that.

You are not alone thinking this way! Many of us try to make ourselves available and knowing the priest before asking for that eventual resurrection. A little 'investment' goes a long way later. They can often be found in the inn places where adventurers gather, rest, and converse.
