Seriously, while sometimes people are busy, a lot of the time ANYONE will help you, even if you're a lightie asking someone with a title of "Archon of Darkness", they'll likely still help if they have a moment.

Beyond that a few things to remember...

Reincarnation is a LAST RESORT. Priests are more than willing to help usually, and asking them spawns RP. If there aren't any look for a shaman or a warlock. If there aren't any of those or if your corpse is inaccessible (very few places like that, none in which you would be right now) do a death quest.

Don't play a necro, deep-elf, griffon or elf to start, all of them have too many racial enemies.

Archon is so lame.

And never really feel like you are bothering people! A little politeness goes a long way. As long as you are polite and not demanding, lots of people will help you...but remember if you ask the popular priest, you may get a number.

It's been known to happen. But be patient and gracious to whomever you are speaking to about gaining life.. beyond the life you may gain, it's another potential person to RP with closer with in the future.

A lot of times high-level bards are available for help, and RP, as well. Try asking bard-like titles. Bards can be extremely useful to someone leveling, especially at lower statuses.

I'm having a good time. I've created a few characters now and I have a favorite. I've been having fun roleplaying and exploring (except for the dying) and thanks to you all for making me feel welcome.
