 Post subject: Multiple attacks

I've been puzzled on this topic for a while: What determines the number of attacks you get per round? I know it's related to your weapon speed, your dex, and skills like second, third, and fourth attack. Does your strength factor in? Also, I see people sometimes get more than four attacks per round. Are some weapons just insanely fast and get more than 4 per round, or are these guys just hasted all the time? Any info on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

The biggest factors are weapon speed and your level in the skills (second, third, fourth attack). Also, there's berserk/fury and specialize that will increase your weapon speed. Magically there's haste. Very few weapons will give 4 attacks without any of the above benefits, even with all your skills mastered. If you're wielding a very fast weapon that gets four attacks there's the chance it'll give you a 5th without magical aid, but normally this is rarely accomplishable without buffs of some sort.

Weapon speed = max number of potental attacks this can be improved by haste, specialize and Fury and they also open the chance for extra attacks.
Weapon skill-to fourth attack = max number of posiable attacks you can get out of a weapon, not counting the extras one you can get from specialize, Fury or Haste.

Weapon size also factors in. Sprites get an addtional attack with their main hand. Jinithin was also getting the sprite attack pretty damn often with size tiny epees and GM haste for a total of seven attacks.

I seriously doubt weapon size has anything do with it except that weapons not the same size as you possibly attack slower.

Sprite have always been quicker than your average race. Sprites get extra attacks to make up for the fact they have tiny weapons that do little compared to a "standard" medium weapon. When a sprite is enlarge they lose this ability.

That was specific, -relatively- (as in, during my time here) recent wimp to sprites SPECIFICALLY because they were getting enlarged to deal more damage. The fact that sprites are size tiny and do so little damage is why they were given another attack. If they get enlarged it defeats the purpose, so the extra attack is removed.

Sprites get -one- extra attack. I don't think sprites will attack any faster (as in, have a higher percentage of more attacks) than any other race.

Oh forgot to mention that Jinithin is not a sprite, but a halfling.

Also the above post was the bearer of two different points. The fact that sprites get an extra attack and the fact that size matters. I didn't mean to draw a coorilation between the two.

Adder: Sprites don't get the extra attack based on the fact that they do [REDACTED] damage. It's based on RP that they are quick mother [REDACTED],. Back in the day sprites had two or three more points of STR and had a broken form of perma-haste. It doubled each time they used a skill. Two dirt kicks, two kicks, two trips, two disarms, two everything.

There's frequently a connection between code and the "RPed" reason. If sprites did as much damage as giants, even if they were supposed to be "quick mother [REDACTED],", do you think they would get an extra attack? Nope.

It's the same reason why a certain cabal isn't allowed to use certain summonable pets as tanks. There's the RP reason behind it as dishonorable, and there's the code side where you realize that those things are disgusting tanks. I'm sure D wanted to give them enough hp so the cabal didn't get dismounted from brandishes but didn't want them to be used as tanks, either.

There is also a simple weight factor that no one has mentioned yet. If you stay at below 50% of your weight allowance your ability to hit your target goes up, a lower factor at below 75%, and no bonus after that.
