Does a piece of heavy armor worn [about the waist] count against you for ranged attacks? Seems like it shouldn't, but not very easy to tell in game.

Similarly, do heavy armor centaur shoes count against you?

Thanks.

The waist and centaur shoes shouldn't count against you, since they don't induce the heavy armor penalty to light armor or cloth wearing classes. But I'm not completely sure about the range attacks.

- Heavy Armor Ranged Penalties
* Each piece of heavy armor worn gives accuracy penalties to ranged attacks
* Crossbows only have half the penalty of other ranged weapons

What the hell? What are these penalties? I can imagine speed being an issue with heavy armor but if Accuracy or Damage is affected by heavy armor worn from the one using range, then this is god damn stupid, as the only time one of those two would be affected would be if someone was wearing a bulky plate helm that impairs some of his vision for accuracy.

God what other stupid changes were made while I stopped playing?

It's a big penalty with bows. I was spec'd in shortbow, and still missed nearly half my shots with my merc.

Wait, I'm confused. I missed this update.

ANY heavy armor wielding class receives an accuracy penalty when using ranged weapons (half penalty for crossbows)? So mercs, who can use heavy armor, shoot with significantly less accuracy in a full suit of heavy?

Have we confirmed whether heavy belts hinder arrow accuracy or not?

That's correct Adder. If I recall right, this was the solution for the "MERCENARIES ARE BETTER WITH BOWS THAN SCOUTS!" argument. Just so everyone's up to date.

Yea... it completely nerfed the capability of mercs to deal ranged damage, unless the accuracy losss per piece is quite small.

This makes me sad. I would much rather have seen scouts get the equivalent of finesse for ranged attacks to penetrate heavy armor than this :(
