Hello all. I was curious, how do you know if you're able to tame something? I found a NPC that I really liked that was an easy kill, yet I spent literally over five(5) minutes trying to tame it but couldn't. I just kept get "X is starting to enjoy your company" or other messages. Is charisma affected? My character has max charisma but well, I'm not sure how that factors in. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It checks your level compared to the animal's, your skill level at tame, and your charisma.

No matter what your level, your skill level, or your charisma, it will more often than not take you forever and a day to tame anything.

Tame sucks. Needs fixed.

Are you high enough level? At lower levels, it just removes aggro. At something like veteran you can actually score yourself a pet.

If it's an easy kill to you, it should be possible to tame it. However, like I said.. It will take forever. I'd tell you it's easier when they con as no match for you, but I'd be lying.

It might have to do with your CHA as well. Without appropriately high CHA, even if it's easy kill you won't be able to tame it. As I recall, also, the roc is a particularly difficult NPC to tame.

This. I had a scout not that long ago, and trying to tame the roc was about one of the most awful things I can remember.

On the topic of CHA, if you're a griffon or a giant (or, I believe, a sprite) scout, don't bother trying to tame the Roc. It's not possible with your max CHA.

Well that could help explain why with CHA gear my giant had such a problem taming. But it was tamable. Just took a day or two.

I'm starting to think it's based more on level than cha. I just got to master 2 and the Roc is still an easy kill. I'm a giant with ma x Cha and I got him on the 3rd tame attempt this time around. It really doesn't make much sense.
