Damaged weapons do absolutely nothing. You need to replace your dagger anytime it gets banged up worse than 'superb'.

Apologies if I mislead, as stated I had limited time and the instructions were for a merc (I should have said mercenary class). I should have removed the word sword and reference to bash...

As per Grakus' note, I too will offer any help I can, so if you see me about in game just send me a 'tell'.

Good Luck

That your dagger is getting so dented screams that you need a better weapon. Consider a mace, since I think you have enough XP to learn the skill well. Weapon training is critical to your combat success. On your "skill" listing, average is better named terrible.

A mentor can provide better training than NPCs, and guide you to a decent weapon store as well. (See "help mentor" if you don't know about these friendly folk.)

That should solve most of your problems immediately. Learning your first cure spell should fix the rest.

To Achernar: If newbies are denting weapons on your level 1 NPCs, something is very wrong. In comparison, I could almost swear Nerina's zakamis have negative armor.

Replace weapons at damaged. I wouldn't say below superb is useless. Dulrik made the quality less impactful last year, along with making quality degrade more slowly than before. By the time a weapon is below average quality you will want to replace it usually.

With all respect, I think you're missing the point. If a weapon is being dented, that means that it's not fully penetrating your foe's armor. Buying a weapon solid enough to do full damage does a world of good. Gold is cheap, especially for Amateurs.

Likewise, considering how cheap weapons are to repair or replace, taking them down to damaged is silly. Anything below superb is cause for a fix.

The NPCs in the Taslamaran training rooms still are way too tough - I've just created a priest in them.

Here are the stats and I've trained dagger too.

Or at least equip the newbies with steel practice daggers, steel also breaks the Iron weapons available to the newbs.

You are stunned, but will probably recover.

And now the dagger is down to good, which unless new players figure out the outfit command they are going to be in real trouble.

My own opinion is that you should be in these training rooms for about an hour before moving on - the last character took at least 5 before making it out. I then recreated the same character and class in the Sith rooms and it was much much easier there.

Hey guys... I've helped at least a dozen people with this problem IC.

The answer is: DO NOT GO TO THE PLACE WHERE IT SAYS IS FOR BEGINNERS.

The NPCs there have steel plate skin. If you simply skip to the intermediate section, they have light chain skin and are much easier to kill.

I don't know if this is giving away vital IC info, but if you go up a level and explore a bit you will find some mages. The mages are higher level and are even easier to kill than the ones marked as being the easiest by the map.

The easiest solution to me would be to simply get rid of Fenlarath Hall all together. The rest of the areas are fine.

--->Recap: Send newbies to Sorethumbe Hall (marked intermediate on the map) because Fenlarath Hall (marked novice) has outfitted its NPCs with plate armor.

Hey everyone just wanted to say thanks. It seems this community is quite friendly unlike some other MUDs that I tried and quickly abandoned. I had a chance to read a lot of good hints for playing and surviving. I also want to thank the people that helped me out within the game. I'm sorry I had to leave so quickly all of a sudden... but my boss came and caught me in game. He said that I was unfocused and that I had better stop fooling around

Thanks for the help... if you ever see me in-game say hello or something. I'm new to the community and some friends would be nice

You may find it a bit easier to try starting out in Ayamao or Zhenshi. Zhenshi is a really high populated place at the moment, and there are people of most every aura there.

You can have more than 1 character here, too, so feel free to experiment.
