I think that is a little misleading. A good (light aura) character would not just rampage round a light area (city, village etc) for XP. Are all light aura NPCs Humans/Sprites etc. or are there light aura animals (like bats) anywhere? If there are, then I can't see killing them to be a problem.

You lost me there so I will say it simple.

A light aura char can hunt ONE light aura deer for food, RP wise.
A light aura char can kill ONE light aura animal for the sake of sport/hunting/RP/whatever.

A light aura char will NOT rampage a Light aura area, killing Light Aura NPCs (be them animals, humanoids etc) for XP. That would be against his alignment, thus punishable.

Well, I don't agree with that at all, but such is the rich tapestry of life. A light aura character could still look upon animals as animlas, just because you are good hearted, doesn't mean you have to give a hoot about animal welfare. They could easily excuse the hunting of animals as they are put in the realms by the Gods to help them improve and better serve their lord/lady.

If you think that you should not kill a light aura animal becuase it is light, then really, I think you would need to think about why you kill a Dark Aurad bat? I mean, it is just a bat right. What evil can it really do? It has no real control over its actions, it hunts, it kills (never for pleasure), it eats, it sleeps... Same with large spiders, dinsosaurs... really, can they ever truly be evil?

With this logic, you can't blame a demon for being totaly evil, or undead since it may not have been turned to undead with their own will. Although I do put some right in your words, I still think a lightie should hunt a lightie animal to feed his needs, he would not PRACTISE in combat on them. Hell, even on a dark/aurad animal, I would find it not good for him to PRACTISE in combat on an animal. And why do so, when there are PLENTY of monsters around he can do so with them?

Undead are controlled by evil, created from evil magic - go smite my brothers!

Demons are, I believe, sentient beings, sometimes created from the souls of those that have walked the mortal planes and in death been given a new form... smite away!

As for not practicing on animals... best close the sewers in Exile, the Bakemano cave, The Zakemi place too...

Anyways, I don't think we are helping the newbies while we argue like this.

My point was only to say that we shouldn't tell someone that because they are light they cannot train on x, y or z NPCs. That is for them to decide, but I know I didn't really put that across.

Wow, you really don't know what a bakemono is, I guess. Better wiki it out and see that they are monsters coming from the japanese tradition. :P As for sewers, last I checked there were MONSTERS in there. Also, the zakami are not animals, but canine-like monsters too, a parasite of sorts, and there is an entire newbie quest there, that explains why you need to help in the hunt for them.

I wish that all "animals" (non-sentient NPCs) had no aura.

A

PS On the same note, that all races that have specific auras, undead, griffons, elves, deep-elves, daemon, and devils would be checked for proper alignment.

So far I restricted my killing to training monsters, without concern for their alignment. But more importantly, I don't know how to determine the alignment for a NPC, or PC!
