They were talking about Gnomes that act like Sprites.

But I hate you now. :P

Gnomes are a race of supreme intellects. They have built an amazing civilization.

Their intellects forced them to evolve from Dwarves (if this is too much IC info, please remove this phrase).

They have nothing to do with sprites.

Evolution is a myth. Dulrik created all the races and none have evolved from any other race. Half-elves are not an evolution but merely a mixed race. An evil god used evil influence to make some elves go underground and become pure evil. Deep-elves are as such elves who have been permanently deformed within and not an evolved race. The evil god who did this? That god died.

ROFL, this made me think of Tiemoow's "Hey look--cupcakes!" picture.

Keep in mind that even the books, tomes, and writings that one may find in the game are all accounts given by some in-character mortal. Even in SK the historical record is tainted by racial, religious, political motivations. There are a lot of things written in the game that are contradicted in other places (again, much like actual history). Don't make the mistake of assuming that just because something is "written down" in SK that it's "fact".

That's a very good point dalamar. None of the books my characters have written are anywhere close to fact.

As everyone has said: gnomes are how you want them to be. There's a lot of freedom in SK regarding races. I should also note that whether or not you like playing a gnome will depend greatly on your playstyle (if you favor spell caster builds with huge mana pools, you'll love them). Gnomes are my favorite race in SK. They also have the added bonus of living a very long time.
