I have to agree, if you know where to go you can level very quickly. That doesn't stop levelling from being boring as all hell, though.

Osterich - sounds like your character might be in a location that might not be as helpful for XP as others. Perhaps if you post some more details about where you are and what you're doing, we can give more specific advice.

As others have mentioned, type AREAS and also read HELP AREAS to learn about familiarity: basically if you stay in one place too long, your learning will slow down as you become 'familiar' with it. Move on and find a new place to fight (and probably bump into more quest NPCs, too). The WORTH command reports your familiarity with the area you're standing in, too.

I've levelled my main character in 510 hours of play by choice and also Plvled a few alts in between 45-110 hours, depending on class/race combo.

It still seems like lvling was easier back then, I just can't see how I can be wrong. It takes me 15 hours to get to 15 lvl and some of that time was in bonanza. Maybe I grew far too old for all that....

I can find the areas, I've been around for sometime, just took a small break, just thought between me playing that the amount of xp recieved was lowered. ex. DE hellion spamming cause light-I could get through novice in aabout two hours; temple in northerwastes starting area-uxmal starting area-goblin shanty town

now DE hellion spamming cause light with the same exact thing takes me 4hrs plus

Just seems like you get less xp from six months ago.

I don't think anything's changed in that amount of time. Perhaps your build is different (ie less mana causes more down time?)

Well, it does depend on classes, races, ect.
But what ive figured out is this: training all really depends on how often you stop. If you get up from the computer and go get food or something, stop attacking for a few moments, those moments really do add up. As boring as it seems, you really have to be attentive to train fast. Im actually doing the same thing at this very moment, if I keep posting like this itll take me 300+ hrs to grandmaster on an alt I have :-?
