I don't think he meant that in quite the way you took it.

Also--the who list is only semi-ooc. The whole thing is based on "buzz-words" like "about," "around," "sense," etc. You can't mention a list in your head, but you can sure as hell say that you're fairly sure that so-and-so is "in the realms."

I personally have no problem with logging out and into another char as long as it is for purely RP reasons.

Although I also have no care wether someone knows I'm playing an alt or not, as I have no problem keeping different characters and IC knowledge seperate.

I hope you are OOCly killed to deletion.

No joke.

I thought the rest of that statement seemed quite fair. Perhaps you saw just that part and took it out of the rest of the context. I don't suggest to just log on to PK some one. If they are on and you know it will spark good RP and you are willing to RP afterwards I don't see how it is at all a rediculous suggestion. But to each his own

Cheers

Stands to reason if it's not proper to switch characters to resurrect someone, it's just as improper to switch characters to kill someone. The fact that you are taking OOC knowledge and switching characters to gain some kind of tactical advantage IS WRONG. Period.

Now for those who are doing it for some RP reason, I'm thinking it is still not the best of things to be doing, though I understand the logic of 'taking a few minutes to log out, do something else,' with the intention to interact with people. Taken by the letter of the rules again, taking the OOC knowledge and switching character to gain some kind of role play advantage is also wrong.

I try to keep things simple. I either have one character I play at a time, or simply do not switch characters. If I miss something, I miss something, but at the same time, I'm dodging questionable actions by switching characters mid gaming session.

I will switch characters because of who list info for a couple of reasons:

-I see a seeker of the faith/faction I'm leading.
-I see someone who I know has been looking for another character of mine for a few days.

Other than that, I pretty much ignore the who list.

I suppose there is some responsibility that comes along with being a HF, and that such exceptions make a degree of sense. This is a bit when the spirit of the rule makes more sense than the letter. But I wouldn't go, switch, do that 'one thing' and then switch back either. *shrugs* :)

Good points, Aneira

Once I log on Aneira, I can expect to be pulling-my-hair-out busy for the next few hours. :P It's never just one thing.

Here here. The life of a priest. Never a dull moment.

Being a leader in both a faith and faction means you sometimes have to give up the fun of an alt to go deal with things that need to be done.

I will NEVER log in to pardon someone.

I will NEVER log in to rezz someone.

All characters that are still alive are in an IC sense, always in the world. Because of this, I'm against any restrictions for switching characters or logging on or off whenever a player wants, since these are OOC decisions.

As long as they are not multiplaying, they should not be harassed.

For example, if I log on my priest and someone sends me a tell right away asking for life (probably because they've been sitting around as a ghost typing "who" obsessively), there shouldn't be anything stopping me from roleplaying with this character and deciding whether I want to pray for him or not.

This should be the same whether I was eating waffles right before logging on or playing as a barbarian. What I was doing prior to logging in should not matter, unless I am using IC information (location of enemy, item, etc) not gained by the character I'm playing.

I think that this is where the judgment is better safe than sorry. In any case where there could be a question if you were doing it for any reason than something responsible and without any graying of the IC/OOC lines, then don't.
