They aren't wearing enchanted armor or anything, but I know the blindness from my color spray is still ineffective fairly often at Exp4 training art since apprentice1. The natural saves some NPCs have is ridiculous, but since they don't wear armor I figured it was by design.

So how many trainings of art is ideal? And does it only effect the success of 'debuff' type spells rather than damage-dealing ones?

There are different theories on how much art one should train. You should definately train the max for wands (which is nine I believe). I tend to max it for the profession I'm playing.

Art counteracts saves that have been enchanted on equipment (e.g. fortitude, etc.). It is useful for spells like summon and charm but also damage spells like acid blast.

As far as your name, if you can google it and it comes up as a greek god, most likely you'd be asked to change it.

Alright, I chose a safe name.

One more final question--some of you guys suggested that I train CHA first, but there's no charisma trainers in the Zhenshi newbie school, so far as I can tell--where can I do this? They don't seem to be able to train magic missile either, which is a bit of a problem

The nearest CHA trainer in Nerina (as far as I remember) is actually just outside the city limits. Send up a mentor call if you're on right now, so I can tell you in character. I'd get in trouble for telling you more on the forum.

One of the shopkeepers trains cha and teaches magic missile. If you have trouble finding it just asking around in game.

All the advice given so far seems to be very useful: Personally I suggest maxing CHA, then WIS, then INT, then stop at 9 Art and put points into other things you desire. This is because Charisma and Wisdom are your limiting factors in leveling, while int and art become more useful at higher levels.

Welcome to SK!

I disagree with the above. I'd get your cha/str/dex/con to where you want them first, that way you can beat enemies to death while your spells are still ineffectual. You can always train wis and int later, when you start getting some real spell power.

Jardek, have you played a sorc recently?

Magic missile is easily the best leveling spell in the game. From level 1 to GM
