The area list is just general IC lore that everyone knows. There are loads of maps that you can reference, including http://www.shatteredkingdoms.org/worldmap. The line or two at the top of that map is about half-IC, so it's fair to treat it as a map you can reference if you really need to.

Ya found that thing right away. VERY helpful when just starting out again.
