Invalid aliases are when you try to assign an alias to a command that's already in the game. For example, you can't assign an alias to the letter 'h' because 'h' already stands for 'hit' in the game. Try out a different combination of letters. :)

This is untrue. Futhermore, you can actually work the system by creating an alias to cover a command, and still have access to the original command. Case in point:

Code:
[HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]
> alias giggle pemote wildly-colored Jester's cap jingles as he giggles happily.
Alias added.

[HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]

Xorvithien's wildly-colored Jester's cap jingles as he giggles happily.

[HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]
>  giggle <Notice the space before the giggle>
You giggle.

[HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]

Thyki,

When creating an alias, try to use the full command. I've noticed it's a little glitchy sometimes when using the partial command, but I haven't been able to gather enough information to pinpoint what exactly what the bug is, so I haven't submitted a report.

There is also a safety in place so that they do not loop. You cannot follow the alias with a command of the same word.

e.g. 'alias b bash elf' would not work because b is a truncation of the bash command.

This is probably what I was confusing it with. I know I've had problems in the past with invalid aliases where commands already existed, though I'm not sure why I would be trying to alias something that's already truncated. Pay me no mind.

I copied and pasted what you quoted and it worked fine with me first try, I have no clue what your problem was.
