Charisma mods are what I'd do instead of naturally training charisma.

What is your opinion on what weapon I should specialize in? I can decide now and I'm not sure which is best for my race.

You get two specs.

Consider what two fighting modes you want most:

An accurate one-handed weapon to parry with while holding a shield?
A fast one-hander that you can use with blazing speed?

Something unparryable?

Reach weapons?

Maybe a ranged weapon?

Perhaps you abandon defense entirely, and want a two-handed weapon capable of lethal, massive damage.

This being said, it is my opinion that the current weapon system is very awful.

The best thing to do is look over your options and get your hands on a couple weapons and COMPARE them. Through process of elimination, you can determine what is fastest, most lethal, and most accurate.

From there, let availability be your final factor. You don't want to specialize in something you will never hold.

For specialization, I'd find a mercenary ICly who seems to know what he's doing, and ask his opinion. It's more fun that way.

Can you specialize in exotic? And do all exotic weapons have the same comparable stats?

You can specialize in AN exotic weapon. You specialize in a single weapon, not a weapon group. And no, exotic weapons have very very different stats and uses. Sickles are not shurikens are not bandalores.
