Do classes in this game have "primary stats" that improve just about everything about a character?

Not exactly. There are primary stats, but those only determine where the bonus points that a human/half-elf get are put.

I've rolled a few characters and looked through towns without really seeing people, so I'm turning here in hopes of hearing something.

If you're still having trouble finding people, try using the "mentor" command in your starting school. There's a good (but not guaranteed) chance that it will put you in touch with a character who can ICly teach you the ropes.

Pallies arent bad, just find some mods, if you dont know where, then go for max int, decent wis, and aim for dex and str about 4 below the race cap, if you dont know what it is, get str to strong, and dex to nimble and mod from there.

So how many of you guys when you started here flopped back and forth between characters like crazy? I have an overactive imagination, so many ideas leftover from mudding in other places that I've never gotten to try out. Seems like nothing's sticking. I got worried that the character(s) I was thinking of wouldn't be comfortable accepting a more subservient position so I started a new one... gonna grind the sorcerer out. Thanks to everyone in game and on forums, hope this guy lasts longer than a couple days as I'd really like to get something off the ground and see if this place is as interesting as it seems =P

Like, all of us. I tried three characters before I found one that I liked--and that was only because I found myself interacting with one of the best roleplayers in the MUD. (So I'm a suckup--so what? Delear was awesome.) I know some people with as many as three significant characters, but we all know that Malhavoc can't make up his mind anyways. :P

Don't choose a class just because it's easy, by the way. You learn a hell of a lot more about the game as a bard than you were if you were playing, say, a barb. I'd say that if you want to explore with relative immunity to danger, keep the sorc. Fly+Etherealform=NothingCanFreakingTouchYou.

Also, give my characters monies.

Never played one, didnt know they could go eth. Though priests can too and unless your polymorphed, a priest will likely beat your brains in 1v1 against a sorc in melee.
