Yeah it's not like I have played a few griffon sorcs and can speak from firsthand experience on how bad they are. I must just be a perma newb.

I've got an idea! I, being newbie, will roll a griffin sorc. If I'm happy and famous in six months, we'll call it a success. If I stop posting on the forums and nobody knows my character (or my character is long gone), we'll know it was a bad idea.

You really shouldn't listen to styles on this one. Sprite or deep-elf sorc would be infinitely better than griffon sorc, especially for exploring. Styles has a history of talking out of his butt due to his own ignorance.

Except for half-elf, you couldn't make a worse choice for race as a sorcerer than griffon. Their intelligence (as far as sorcerers go) is quite low and their wisdom only mediocre. I can save you six months and tell you it's a bad idea right now.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, though.

I've changed my mind... I'll play the mutated spawn of a half-elf and griffon. Write up a funky description, never let my intelligence surpass low levels of Brilliant. I'm sure I could come up with some compelling RP... I'll even throw in a few flaws like a gimp wing that keeps me from flying. Yet I'll be determined not to let genetics get in the way of... greatness.

Does anyone else remember the sprifflings?

Can griffons even cast gate while holding charm person?

The idea that you can join the fist with your griffon sorc and suddenly be able to claw your way through high-end NPCs is ludicrous.

Not without sitting and releasing all other spells. And they can't sleep with a charm until near the end of their lives.

Not being able to sleep with a charm is absolutely craptastic. That's so important as a sorc.

Am I wrong but doesn't your stat maximums for int only go up as you age and not down? Also according to another site, sprites and griffons only have 1 int difference. Is that really enough to make them not be able to cast gate and hold a charm? Not arguing, actually wondering since I never played a sorc.
