Meissa, good to know there is a potion to recall with a pet. Yes, think of something so that we are not totally stuck after dying, please! :D

I didn't know about Polstergeist, Activist. Looks like it will help me. What I tried yesterday was to just get my things from the corpse while the killer was there and run, but that is not possible :( It tells me there is too much going on for me to do that.

Yes, I understand I'll need the XP for levels, but levels are now the least of my worries. In fact, I am a bit afraid to grow much because I think I would have to face other threats I am not prepared for. When I grow, I will probably feel better about asking a Priest to help me, as I hopefully will be able to help him/her somehow too, and I should not be dying so frequently perhaps. But now, what I need the most is just to move around and learn about things.

Galactus, thank you. :) I've read the "help death" file. I've been there with nothing better to do.

As for the maps, I have just understood I need to use the sextant more to get to understand it.

The whole point of the priest class is to be a support role, and that includes resurrecting people. Don't be afraid to ask a priest for a rez.

And, by asking a priest to resurrect you, they, usually, will ask if you need additional help. This will help greatly reduce the chance of getting mauled going to regain your things.

This is something that might be helpful to newbies. Don't know if it is kept track of but when a character enters the River for the first time on that char's existence, the game sends a message: Please type, "Help Death", for assistance to come back to life.

Not a bad idea, actually.

Hmm I see now what you meant. I found the help file "help death" but I probably just imagined it. Some will not know what to do at all indeed.

It's a good idea to read all the help files. Gives you something to do while your character is sleeping. Just do a plain "help" and pretend its tvtropes.

There's a lot of good stuff in there, like all the old hero data.

I've lost my innate skills (and another I had mastered is also Superb now) in my first character. How so? Because I die too much? I am always being resurrected.

Help armor2

Quote:
Imagine a mage, whose power comes from the mind, not the body; a scout, trying
to slip through the woods; or a rogue, sneaking up behind someone. Imagine
these people trying to do what they are best at while wearing full plate mail
or loaded down with stone armor....

There are penalties to the use of some skills and spells when certain classes
wear certain types of armor. Some classes in the game are trained to use
heavy armor, while others are trained to use light armor or clothing.
* Heavy Armor -- Mercenaries, Paladins, Hellions, Barbarians
* Light Armor -- Swashbucklers, Scouts, Bards, Shamans, Warlocks, Rogues
* Clothing -- Sorcerors, Necromancers

Priests are a special case, with their training depending on the amount of
martial discipline in the priesthood.
* Heavy Armor -- Algorab, Alshain, Dulrik, Sargas
* Light Armor -- Achernar, Ain, Yed, Nashira, Sadr, Thuban, Zavijah
* Clothing -- Aludra, Meissa, Mira, Sadal, Marfik, Dabi

What defines the type of armor? What differentiates heavy from light? This
is dependent on the type of material from which the item is composed.
* Heavy Armor -- adamantite, diamond, gemstone, iron, obsidian, platinum,
steel, stone, tanso steel, cold iron, jade
* Light Armor -- amber, brass, bronze, china, clay, copper, crystal,
flesh, food, glass, gold, ice, ivory, leather, meat, mithril, pearl,
plant, scale, silver, supernatural, wood, dragonscale
* Clothing -- cloth, energy, feather, flame, fur, ink, paper, parchment,
rubber, silk, suede, vellum, water

If you are wearing anything from a material lists category above what you can wear (sorcerer wearing leather, brass, steel, gemstone, etc.) in your armour slot (head, chest, arms, hands, waist, legs, feet), then your skills will suffer for it, making them go from mastered to superb. Reincarnating takes a level from you, so it will only take a train away from you if you lose a level where you were to gain that train. Otherwise everything else is unaffected. Keep in mind that I am a bit drowsy, so this makes sense to me, so I am probably missing something.

1) If you're polymorphed to a different race than your natural race, you lose the innates of your natural race and take on those of the one you've polymorphed to.

2) Only armor weight or berserk/fury will cause your skills to lower in regards to mastery.

3) You cannot die "too much." Resurrection has no cost besides the (temporary) spirit disorientation penalty to your stats.

What if the innate skills are supposed to be class skills too?
