you forget the fact that people often just target whatever deep-elf there is with certain abilities or spells, just like they target an elf.

While in a group, you will at times be hit by spells not because you're the hellion, but because you're a delf (IE c 'bolt of glory' deep-elf'. Yes, you can also c bol, but I prefer to write it all down for everyone to understand.)

Its a general thing with elves and delves. They are born hated and targeted. Your halfelf isn't.

I think it is pretty improbable that I'd have written that up without considering BoG and color spray, not to mention flaring light attacks and cold iron. There are preparations you can make to handle those. However, if I'm having to explain this to you, you're probably better off not playing a deep-elf hellion. Like I said, the biggest drawback is probably maintenance, something I probably wouldn't want to deal with.

The one great perk of being a delven caster over races such as human or gnome is there natural magic resistance allows them to eat Voodoo's much more effectively. When you're a sorc or to a lesser extent a necro, voodoo is your biggest bane. Hell, when you play a well prepared/enchanted sorc, voodoo is your only bane.

Otherwise I agree in general, I think delves, and to a lesser extent elves could use a slight buff. Nothing in the stat department, but simply reducing the multiplier on their racial weaknesses, or reducing the number of weakness they have would be well enough in my opinion. As it is delves/elves don't really make the best of anything. Except perhaps very specific build hellions/paladins(IE: casters).

It was ghailan, a mithril flail, and I proceeded to fill your [REDACTED] with cheap iron arrows.

I disagree. Elves and deep-elves have a lot of buffs that other races just don't have access to. Those are offset by weaknesses.

That's too nebulous, Cyra--

I think what others are so adamant about is the fact that the strengths do not justify the weaknesses.

Everybody and their mother played a deep-elf caster until bolt of glory had its damage type extended to light. After that there was just too much QQing about how paladins would rape deep-elves.

It's the player behind the character though that makes them buff or not.

The thing about deep-elf casters is the high intelligence just isn't even worth it anymore. Mana is more of a problem than concentration is in my opinion. Anyone who knows half of what they're doing can work around low concentration with scrolls/vials/wands/staves etc... Mana is still needed though for healing/offensive casting, and the only thing delf casters have going for them is intelligence, and the afformentioned saving grace against voodoo. Otherwise they have a [REDACTED] ton of racial weaknesses and not much else to show for it.

Do people actually run out of mana in PvP?

I'd imagine, I used too. Granted I don't know how much the increased mana per train, plus the low cap on caster HP trains did to rectify that.
