I know it says Code: Polymorph allows a sorceror to transform herself into any of the many races of the Shattered Kingdoms. Beware though, for equipment may not fit the new race, or it may be unusable if the chosen race cannot wear a particular piece. A truly imaginative sorceror can have fun with this spell. But I have two questions about Polymorph A) Does polymorph just change you to the race and obvious attack or does it actually change you into that creature and what it is made of? B) Does polymorph make you a totally new person undetectable to the law enforcement (I remember reading this but I forget what the final result was) * Another question why does it cost you mana to release polymorph? Code: [HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]
> stand You stand up. [HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%] > release 1 You release yourself from your polymorph. You return to your normal form. [HP:100%] [ME: 96%] [PE:100%] |

Polymorph turns you into the race you polymorph into giving you their skin and stat min and maxes, and any special immunityes they have. No it will not protect you from law. You didn't lose mana your wis was higher then the max on the race you polymorphed into so when you released it your max mana went up because you wis went back up. |

It changes you into a race. You can't become a fyrtysk, for example, because that's a creature name rather than a race. Discovering the race names is a part of the challenge; fallen body parts will give you a clue. But you can certainly become a dragon, for example. [Editted to remove the rest. Virnoil said it better.] |

Yes you change to that creature, daemons are immune to fire and can see invis. Fytrysks, if you can find their true name, are immune to acid and bludgeoning. Dragons are immune to confusion. Play around with it, it is truely a fun spell to play with. Kerrien wrote: B) Does polymorph make you a totally new person undetectable to the law enforcement (I remember reading this but I forget what the final result was) Why don't you go try this one Seriously. If you could avoid the law by simply being polymorphed, then everyone would have the local sorc use scrolls to change them into something for city raids... This would obviously be broken. Law NPCs can see through polymorph if you are wanted, but the paladin's of Sith' can't see through it to make sure you aren't a deep-elf Kerrien wrote: * Another question why does it cost you mana to release polymorph?
Code: Location: The Lobby of the Waxing Moon
>c poly human scholarly You start to concentrate. [HP:100%][ME:100%][PE: 78%] Wealth: zero Location: The Lobby of the Waxing Moon > You utter the words, 'sarlzaksp'. You polymorph into a human. [HP:100%][ME: 96%][PE: 78%] Wealth: zero Location: The Lobby of the Waxing Moon >release all You release all your spells. You return to your normal form. [HP:100%][ME: 96%][PE: 78%] Wealth: zero It doesn't. A tick must have happened just as you released it. |

One thing to watch out for here - albeit unlikely because you're a newbie - is that if you polymorph into a race that has a racial age maximum that is less than your original race, you could possibly die of old age. Probably wouldn't be wise for a old deep-elf to poly into a giant. Of course, there's only a chance that you'll die of old age when the next game 'tick' comes around. You could prolly get away with polymorphing right after a tick and bashing down a door (as a giant), then releasing real quick. BTW, you can't have another sorceror recite scrolls of polymorph on you or cast polymorph on you. |

I know this comes a bit late, but I thought I might add my two cents. One thing to note is that different races have different maximum levels of wisdom, and other attributes in general. Just as if you alternatingly remove and wear an item granting you greater magical energy, you might notice a change in your current magical energy percentage rating on your prompt. In some cases, this could generate the illusion of mana gain or mana loss. [edit: added 2/18] To add a bit to the above, if you polymorph into something with significantly more wisdom than you, then rest up to near-100% mana, you could release polymorph and end up with greater than 100% mana. It's all still there, but will be lost (back down to 100%, or below if another spell is being held) upon the next tick. Goes both ways. Likewise, if you wear some equipment that decently increases your magical energy, rest up, then remove them all, your mana could very well be displayed as over 100%. There's no real way to 'cheat the game' with any of this, but it's interesting info. [/edit] |

In some cases, this could generate the illusion of mana gain or mana loss. Just to clarify a little bit. If you were an elf, with 18 wis, and polymorphed to a giant with 16(not entirely positive) wis, your mana pool drops abit. So when your release the spell, your mana pool max goes up, but it doesn't replenish the mana, therefore lower then your max resulting in somthing lower then 100%. |
