Alright, after having it bother me for some time now I've finally decided to ask. How does the aging process work on SK? After looking through my logs I noticed my priest turned 20 in the year 801. Now in the year 816 she's only 33 which means she's aged 13 years when 15 years have gone by. Other people have made comments that their characters seem to be aging more slowly than expected. Originally I thought the age seen on attributes ticked up every time the character's birthday (the IC date of creation) rolled by, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Anybody know anything about how IC age works?

I think it boils down to 1 OOC week = 1 IC year.

...but not exactly. It is closer to 7.5 days, I think.

Even so, if 15 IC years have passed according to the IC date I shouldn't have aged only 13 years.

Maybe Dulrik has changed it so that activity affects aging.

[EDIT: Pure speculation. Maybe since Summ97 finally got a giant warlock to cast "conjure elemental" we'll see the general trend of fscking up anything that players enjoy]

Activity doesn't affect aging.

For all your time questions, comparisons and measurements, feel free to use the webpage built for just that purpose --

Addendum: there seems to be a very slight offset in the calculations, possibly due to summertime(?). Regardless, the values should be sufficiently accurate to answer the questions above.

As per the faq, the years that go by have their respective months - thus, I can imagine a scenario in which you could be in error by one year --

year 801...
(january) 19
(december) 20

year 816
(january) 34
(december) 35

...but this error margin doesn't provide for a two year gap - so I'm still stumped.

Are you sure Dulrik didn't restore your pfile due to corruption of some kind? Any manipulation of the pfile would have the potential to skew your age, I would think.

As far as I know my pfile has never had to be recovered.

The age calculation function was incorrect by a factor of 1.16 seconds per game hour. It's small enough that it takes half-a-dozen game years for it to add up into a noticable age difference. It'll be fixed next update.
