Maybe you should change the color settings on your client to see black text. Achernar |

That'd be a great idea - if my client could do that. There's no reason to talk in unusual colors anyway. If someone has color, speech is naturally color-coded to show the language being spoken. If someone doesn't have color, they can't see what you did anyway. So save the fancy colors for titles and *occasional* use in descriptions. Especially if you're a newbie, you've better things to do than play with color codes. |

The black the blends with the screen is a bad idea. Don't do it. Everything else is fair game IMO. sleeper |

The game is designed to be used with a black background screen. Therefore please don't use that color for any foreground text. That applies to builder areas as well as people talking. |

Would it be possible to disable the black color code? |

I'm with Benzo. Can we disable the black color code? I think it goes beyond color to actually being buggy. I'm thinking what's happening is because the game inherently recognizes that the game is meant to have a black bg, even when you change the bg color on your client, the black text changes to match. This could also just be a bug with Gmud AND Zmud, but I doubt it. It's a pain having to disable ANSI just to see that someone just said 'Hello' in black text |

Aren't there a few items that have some black text when they someone is wearing them and you look at that person? It is a pain to have to highlight, copy, and paste it elsewhere so you can read it. |

It's a pain having to disable ANSI just to see that someone just said 'Hello' in black text I've never had a problem with changing colors in Zmud. Simply adjust your foreground colors (not the background color) to have black text be a dark grey, dark grey to be a bit lighter, and light grey to be a bit lighter yet. This has been a workable solution for many over the years. Personally, I'd hate to see the color disabled as it does have it's uses, when used correctly and sparringly. I agree that it is a pain to either highlight or disable ANSI when someone talks in black text, that is why it was suggested to not use it for speaking. |

Clients can usually configure black to be dark-dark-grey, but newbies will never know how to do this straight away, so please don't use it for speech. Highlighting the text with your mouse would also make it readable, so it isn't impossible to read, just awkward and inconsiderate. Disabling the colour code might mean black text on the various coloured backgrounds wouldn't work, at which point it IS appropriate and readable. Just a thought. |
