Post subject: | Language trainers in newb schools |
I was just in the Exile newb zone and on the way there I was thinking that it would be nice if there was someone there who could train Taslamarn there so I could talk with other characters there. Instead though I was amazed to find that they teach other languages. I think that is a great idea. I think it would be helpful if that could be added to all other training areas. On a negative note about about the training area it is sooo far away from the city and portal stones. But I do like the language trainers so I got over it. |

Eh.... Everyone who starts in a kindgom gets automatic mastery of that kingdom's native tongue. So, why would you need a language trainer for it? And as for other languages, those should probably be taken out, since almost any mentor can teach them as well as the in-house trainers, and for free, too. Wimp the language trainers? EDIT: Removed a discovery which could easily be abused. |

DO NOT WIMP THE LANGUAGE TRAINERS!!!! I have found only a handful of players that take the time to learn all of the languages verbally well enough to teach them, and even fewer bother with the written forms. This will probably change dramatically when all the books get changed over from god tongue, but until that change takes affect, please oh please, no wimping. |

Wow, you don't have to be rude to express what you think. Seriously, if you can't handle yourself, don't post here. I would say you are more of a fu*king moron, like you mentioned. Geez. |

This may or may not be related to your suggestion, but with new characters, I would suggest visiting the local inn of the said Kingdom. There, you can often expect to be taught well from a local, free of charge and better than NPC trainers, and since you mentioned RP, there's the option too. |

Well without all the rudeness from before. It would be nice to have language trainers in the newb training schools for people who travel around between training grounds. You cannot always garuntee that someone will be in the inn and in most kingdoms finding the language trainers can be tediousome and require alot of PE which can result in alot of sleeping and take alot of time. Some kingdoms are just more active with people running around them than others are. Or maybe it's just part of your RP, say you want to be a kid from Zhensh who always dreamed of being a star in the area and so as for your RP you would train in the arena because that is where your fighting lifestyle began. Or if you were from another kingdom but always dreamed of studying under the paladins in Exile. I mean whatever your background story may be, it may involve moving around some. Not everyone starts at a young age, elves start at 101, that is alot of time for them to be born in Sith but travel around to learn to fight. I can understand not training the language of the kingdom in that kingdoms newb school. But maybe they can train surrounding kingdoms. Like Zhensh can train Uxmal and Sith, and stuff like that. Although my original post intent was to just say that I liked the way the newb school in Exile was set-up and would like others to be that way as well. |

Now, I have no extended experience in the other Kingdoms, but I know for a fact that in Nerina it's really easy to pick up languages, as there are trainers that will teach you 5 languages (Uxmaln, Sylvan, Empire, Taslamaran, and Deep, I believe). A short walk from there, in Teron, you can learn Firmyrn. Luckily, I was able to get a mentor to teach me Aghelian, thus rounding up everything nicely to Very Good, one tick away from Superb. It may seem like a waste of XP, but my character's father was a scholar, and doing IC things that seem OOC useless is just what I have to do to keep my character true to his nature (On a recent attack on Nerina by what I think where Imperials, after my MENTOR, read, person who is much more experienced than I, with equips, got killed, my char, Initiate Griffon, went over to his place of death to try to settle things. Yea, I died in 2 rounds XD). Straying from my point no further, I think that if you can't find the trainers for the languages you want to speak, a mentor would probably be a good source of 'em. |
