I seem to be pounding this forum with questions (seeing as the last 2 topics here are mine :( ) but I figured this would be the best place to ask for a bit of guidance, as it's not particularly IC to walk up to someone and say "Dude, are my skills, stats and equip alright for my level?" and though I know there are RP ways to do this, I'd rather get a more all-around comment on how I'm doing.

Now, I am currently Lv. 3 (Or so I figure, as I've raised my level twice, and still am an Amateur...) and have the following skills:

Quote:
Amateur
spear (very good)
axe (very good)
bow (very good)
dagger (very good)
staff (very good)
sword (superb)
whip (very good)
dirt kicking (very good)
dodge (very good)
fletch (very good)

With the following stats:

Quote:
STR : Strong
DEX : Acrobatic
INT : Smart
CON : Healthy
WIS : Naive
CHA : Influential

I am a Scout by trade, and have Centipede/Konac equip, with a Scorpion Hilted weapon.

What I'm wondering is:

Am I developing my character alright, considering my level and MUD inexperience?

Should I concentrate on getting the Novice skills right now, while I still have access to the Zakami training grounds, or should I level up to Novice already and seek training elsewhere?

Am I strong enough to begin traveling, perhaps to go take care of some Goblins, or should I, again, wait until I am a Novice?

Those are all excellent IC questions which would best be answered by a mentor. Head into the Proving Grounds, type mentor, and hope for a quick response. A good mentor will not only teach you the skills you need (because of the benefit for them), but also answer questions like where to level, who to avoid, etc.

You're doing fine, Minki.

It's hard to go too wrong with your first char. Use it as a learning experience. Get familiar with the mud. Learn how to gain XP in an efficient manner. Learn about the RP scene. Learn about gear. Learn about your class. Join a religion.

Lev 3 is way too early to be worrying about how your first char is turning out, in my opinion. If you find yourself getting more into the PK side of things, you'll probably end up wanting to roll a new char anyway, once you know a little more about how these things work. If you're more attracted to RP, then your stats don't matter nearly as much, anyway.

When you're seeing SK for the first time, everything's fresh and fun. Take your time and enjoy it, without worrying about how perfectly your char is developing.

Peace,
Bux

But, I should answer at least one of your questions.

The longer you wait to train a new skill of spell, that is, the more levels you have under your belt, the easier it is to train, and the less experience you'll waste training it. So, unless there's a skill or spell which is absolutely critical for your training (or you just can't do without it, because it's just so much fun), put off learning it as long as you can. Or at least until you get to the next status above it. Or at least until you get a couple levels into the status where it shows up. Training a skill or spell before attaining the status where is shows up is rarely a good idea, in my opinion.

Also, you'll be able to train all your Novice skills and spells in many, easily-accessible places.

Peace,
Bux

Thanks to both of you for your input :)

I've had a nice bit of RP so far, with a few mentors and a couple of other youngsters like myself. I have to admit, PK has never attracted me in any online game, and this is no different. However, I've always had an itch to be completely thorough an anal when it comes to making my chars "the best they can be", so forgive me for seeming to pry a bit too much.

Again, thanks for the advice!
