Post subject: | What are armor restrictions for clerics not in a religion? |
If my topic doesn't allready make the question clear, here it is: What are the armor restrictions on a cleric if the cleric isn't in a faith yet? I know hellie/pallie faiths get heavy, and other peeps get light or cloth, depending, but I'm not sure which kind of rags I should put on where I am right now. And while the subject of class/religion dependancy is up, what classes have spell dependancy on joining a faith? I know a cleric can't do s---- much without getting invested, and I hear hellies and pallies also have spell restrictions contingent on it. Anything else? |

Un-invested priests are allowed to wear light-armor. That means if you get invested into a cloth faith you will actually go down in armor quality. Only priests, hellions, and paladins need a religion to use their spellset. They are allowed to cast up to initiate spells without being invested. They can always use skills, regardless of religious status. |

I'm going to cook and eat the next person that refers me to a help file that DOES NOT ANSWER MY QUESTION! And thank you, Frollith. |

At least you did get your question answered. So, it is not THAT bad. |

What exactly *are* the armor penalties when wearing heavier armor than you're supposed to? Help armor2 says it's a "penalty to spells and skills that are affected by range of movement." Does this mean that spells requiring a reflex save has a harder time to hit? Higher mana cost? And does this mean it lowers the success rate of skills like dirt kick? |

Saves I'm unsure about, but I know that it will reduce your proficiency in all spells and most skills. For example, if I wore an adamantine breastplate, resurrection and shield block (and 20 other spells/skills) would go from mastered to superb. |

Type "skill" or "spell" after you wear armor heavier than your class allows. Your proficiencies will go down (for instance, (mastered) dirt kick to (superb) dirt kick) dependent on how much and how heavy the armor it is that you're wearing. If you're a cloth armor class you'll suffer more of a penalty for one piece of adamantite than a light armor one. |
