I just started right, I am a soul and I can't do anything? What do I do to be able to start playing?

That is not the best advice for a new player. The race should be something with the size "medium" like a half-elf, elf or human. For the class, chose something else than necromancer, paladin and hellion for the start. As the starting kingdom, Zhenshi, Taslamar or the Empire, depending on your choosen alignment (Taslamar is a light aura'd kingdom whereas Zhenshi does not that much dislike more evil characters, especially new players and the Empire is inhabited by evil characters), would a good choice because of the greater chance of finding a helpful player as a mentor.

However, welcome around and have very much fun on SK! :D

I also recommend reading the help files. They contain a lot of information. And should you get stuck, there are a lot of players willing to help.

Welcome

There are help files on the SK website and also in-game. If you get stuck and want to figure things out on your own, find a quiet unoccupied corner and read through them, or instead of sleeping when you are worn out, just rest and read through them. Some things will not make any sense until you are actually doing them, so do not go into overload on all the available commands.

Also, some people will be more than willing to help you, some will not. Do not take offense at this . . . . It is just like real life that way.

When I first started playing SK I read every help file that was noted under the main HELP heading and also under any sub-heading under that. I found it extremely helpful to have an understanding of the game before I continued past the newbie zone. I also read every news and every post on the Yahoo board at the time. It was still extremely difficult to get used to the scrolling text and after a while I got used to it. You learn to look for which parts are important and ignore lots of stuff that isn't pertinent.

Same here Achernar. When your just getting started as a newb you do alot of random pointless walking. Thus you have to sleep alot. Nothing better to do in game while sleeping then read helpfiles.

I think that in any mud the best class to start of with is human barbarian..... humans usually are the most flexable of all races.... and barbarions usually are easiest class to use.....

So human barbarion from the north..... diabolical and follower of dabi....

Don't make a cabal or religion char yet. Let your chars story-line unfold to show him when or if he is going to be in a religion. Picking a cabal and religion to go for is for those of us that know the game in and out and can adapt to make our chars fit those situations. First make a concept you can stick with and then let the various factions choose for you.

More importantly do something you want. My first char was a Paladin. A lot of people didn't like the idea that a complete n00b to MUDs and SK start out with such a complicated character. But I did, and I learned a lot. It also helped me stick around more, because I was playing something I wanted to play, rather then what someone had chosen for me.

So if you want to do something complicated like a priest/hellion/paladin go for it.

I did it and I'm still around
