Hello again all.

When I look at help armor2 it says:

Quote:
Keep in mind that items worn on
fingers, neck, wrists, waists, and hooves, and those in the symbol slot, do
not count as armor when counting penalties.

But, my mentor said that shields don't count either. Which one is right?

Also, how significant would using a heavy armor shield (more durability for shield block, maybe?) be penalty-wise for a scout?

Thanks in advance.

I don't believe there is a penality as I use a shield that is heavy armor on a light armor priest without a skill drop.

Last time I checked shields like weapons did not give you any negatives. The negatives for wearing heavier armor than you are able is your skills and spells performed at a lower level than they are trained at.
Example I have parry Mastered as a swashbuckler and I wield a heavy armor helm my parry is now only superb (the word will change on your skill sheet). It can be hard to see if you are being penalized at low levels because you have no mastered skills and there are several improves between skill level changes (good to very good). As it states in that help file cloth armor people skills and spells are lowered more than light armor wearers in heavy armor.

Not entirely true, if you are a race that has innate skills or spells these will be lowered as well.

EDIT: Keep in mind, such penalities (to my knowledge) do not affect tongues or writing skills.
