Post subject: | Hello and some questions |
Hi everyone I just started on this MUD yesterday and have found it to be a very enjoyable experiance so far. It has far more logical commands than other MUDs I have played and the descriptions for rooms and people are detailed without being overwhelming. The skill and level system is much better than most. I found the help files to be very handy and the site is excellant for helping me to figure out how my character will fit into your world. I am confused about one thing however and despite looking through all the help files concerning this point and conducting a very detailed search of your forums I am still somewhat confused. How exactly do you make the transition to novice level? Everytime I fill up my exp so it says you have enough to level I go to the trainer and say train level, they all say 'sry i do not deal with lvl advancement request' so I train up some amateur skills and spells (most are at fair level now and I have one novice skill also) which uses up all the exp and I have to fill it up again. At what point do I get the option to go up to novice? Is there a certain minimum I need or do I need to leave the arena (I am in Teron) for this advancement? I thought the point in the arena was to stay there until you hit novice though so you don't get squished in the real world. (what makes me even more confused is I saw another player go to the exact same trainer in the arena and it clearly said that he advanced his level!?) Thankyou all in advance for any help you can give. See you in the game |

Well specific trainers will train you in levels. When you're in the room with a NPC type train, and they'll tell you a list a things they can train you in, some will be able to train your level. As far as reaching novice is concerned, novice, initiate, apprentice, etc are not levels so much as ranks of levels, consisting of five individual level trains. So essentially every five levels you get access to new skills/spells/songs depending on your class. |

Some mob-trainers will only level you to a certain point, so that a less-experienced character could train level, but you couldn't. Keep looking around, and typing train everywhere you go, and you'll be able to find plenty of NPCs soon! Welcome to SK and I hope you enjoy your experience here! |

Some trainers only train level to those of a specific class. For instance, if you're a sorceror and the other person was a swashbuckler, he might be able to train level at a weapons-oriented trainer who is unable to train your level. As you gain levels, experience points will be easier to come by, but you'll also need more experience to train a level. Naturally, higher-leveled skills will cost more experience than lower ones, but training skills above your status (amateur, novice, etc.) also has an additional cost. In most cases, advance training isn't worth it. You start at level 1, and you get a new status every 5 levels. Novice comes at level 6, Initiate at 11, and so on up until Grand Master, which you get at 50. |

Hi Frinkle, Just wanted to add that the mentor command may also help you a good bit, in case you haven't come across it yet. It allows other players of mentor status or above to train level advancement with you, as well as spells and skills. It's a great way to meet new people as well, and often a good bit cheaper. Welcome to SK! |

I had been searching various sources for a good place for rp, I had played a number of online games in the past where we had guilds and rp was a major part (in the last one I played I was in charge of organising such events for the guild). So in other words my major concern in any game is the rp before all else So coming back to my search for a good game; I had the misfortune of trying (dare I admit it) WoW as it seems to be the big thing these days and joined one of the 'rp' servers. In hindsight that was not a very good move on my part Within 30mins of starting in the newbie area one of the players there started to harass me with 'rp' of a sexual nature! And despite my ignorance they just followed me around for 20 mins! So I tried a few others and to my horror I found that genrally quality rp was very rare indeed (especially compared to what i had experianced before). So I turned to MUD's recently realising that perhaps only the people like me who wanted fun and good rp would not care about graphics these days and thats how I found this excellant game Oh one further question; which board here is more directed toward in character posts? or do you tend to keep all that sort of thing in game? |
