Post subject: | Some Clarification... and advice... if you please ^_^ |
So, after re-rolling my human Merc around a bit (after that wonderful discussion), I think I got him on the path I want. Admittedly, I'd like a second, less physical based character to alternate to as well. And I'm not really talking spell-caster so much as one of the adventuring classes... Bard, Rogue, or Scout... Leaning towards Scout, Bard intrigues me (loved Bards in DnD), and Rogue definately appeals to me as well... Suggestions on what race goes well with each, or something unorthodox to try, are welcome (Already fooled with a Halfling Rogue, so no need to explain that one). Also, I've noticed some races have Racial Weaknesses... anyone want to help me clarify this, if that's even allowed? From what I understand... Elves - (Cold) Iron Half-Elves - (Cold) Iron Sprites - (Cold) Iron Deep Elves - (Cold) Iron Giants - Lightning/Psionic Gnomes - ? Halfling - ? Centaur - Aiming at their legs?? Griffon - ? Humans - None? =) Any help is appreciated. |

sprites, gnomes, and halfling have a weakness to blunt/pounding attacks. |

Oh, ok. Note to self: Gnomes play like Whak-A-Moles. |

Also centaurs are vulnerable to fire and magic type attacks. Griffons will never have an efficiently enough enchanted suit, since they lack all those slots. If you read the help files, in general, it's not hard to figure out the weaknesses/advantages of a race, regarding such things, at least. If you are going for an adventuring class such as bard or rogue, I would advise a half-elf for an easy start. Good luck. |

Elves, delves and sprites were all vulnerable to poison last I checked, too. |

..and I would suggest playing a human scout or human rogue if you're still new to SK. Chances are you won't play the character till age death, they don't have any vulnerabilities, they have good all-around stats, and they'll help you get the feel for the game better. |

Again, thanks all! To be honest, I'm a fan of the Human race (as it usually turns out to their weakness being no strength, and their strength being no weakness). A human scout sounds cool... Now I just need to decide if I want him light, gray, or dark... And where to start, hmm... Anyway, thanks again! |

My only other question is... bows. Worth it? |

It depends on the class. For a scout? Heck yeah. You get free arrows with the fletching skill and it gives you ranged attacks. There have also been several successful mercs who spec'd in a bow type if that's what you're asking. Scouts and sorcs are my two favorite classes for alts. They do well on their own and you can really explore the game. |
