Does your str have any affect on the damage that you do?

Nopes... Consider the spear an extension of your will, not your biceps...

So there is nothing that I can do to increase the damage that my spear does save my level?

Art will help, albeit indirectly, by increasing your chances of a full/half damage vs. half/no damage.

Spell damage is a direct result of your level. No stat will help. Art will help you get past saves. That's it.

spear of faith? useless?
I GMed a priest based solely on spear of faith. And in a PK situation with a paladin (I admit I did not have bolt of glory yet, still) I was told that the spear of faith's damage was enough to drop concentration from the enemy caster.
No, spear of faith is a wonderful spell.
