Hi again,

My character is a sprite rogue, and I would her to be able to learn/cast more than her original three spells. Should I train in "ART" (a stat that itself is still very mysterious to me).

I'm much more interested in having a unique/interesting character than making a PK machine. I'm not worried about how to max out my killing ability.

All sprites learn those three spells...

Rougues dont learn any other spells... If you want to learn spells you have to play a caster class... Try sorceror... They h ave a fun mix of spells... If you want RP, try a priest, they tend to have easy access to RP...

Since a rogue doesn't cast spells, you wont be casting many, other than your racial ones, I assume you mean?

help art

[Training help] Art

Syntax: train stat art

Also known as spellpower, training art improves your magical technique,
making it more difficult for enemies to save versus your spells that you
cast or from spells by your magical devices. It does not actually make the
spells higher level, so the amount of damage and time they last is not
affected. The number of times you can train art depends on your class.

That might help too.

You may notice in your skills list you get the skill Scrolls. This will let you recite scrolls (which are magic spells scribed to a piece of paper). So, yes, you want to train ART 6 times as your LAST 6 TRAINS (level 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50).

However, you won't be casting these spells ever. The skill/spell sets you start with are solid and do not change, they are determined by your class and your race. Sprites, being innately magical, get 3 spells (and 3 good ones)

Though, scrolls is still super awesome for a rogue to have. You can get detects, invis, flight, gate, summon, charm person, finger of death, petrification, acid blast, magic missile, all sorts of nifty goodies.

Thanks! Yes, I noticed that. So my character can someday "recite" additional spells (one-off's from scrolls) but that is differeent than 'cast', if I'm reading you correctly. Why wait until my last (attribute points), and how do I know my current level? Is each named rank (amateur, novice....) five numerical ranks?

Will my character ever be able to write or copy scrolls?

Each status is 5 levels, yes, starting from 1, so you can count up.

Every even level you get an attribute point.

And, no, you can't make scrolls. That's why you have sorcerers/necromancers scribe them for you, just as you would have warlocks/priests/shaman brew you potions.

You will mostly be doing a backstab xxx;recite xxx (you can wear the scroll in your off hand and recite it) for a quick kill. The 6 art is the max art that can be used for a scroll. I recommend you make much use of scrolls, because they are a big, big bonus that only a few classes get. And rogues are the only non-magical class (I consider bards magical) to get them.

Plus, being able to buy invis/fly/etc scrolls is just awesome. :)
