Tips for newbs Start the game with a complete understanding of all languages, Don't Attempt to talk to or RP with anyone in any public places. Don't pick up Crap eq with any sort of countries symbol or emblems. Stick to your self as much as possible and don't associate with anyone.. Who knows what there affiliation is and what it might get you into. I tried to make an attempt at comeing back to SK My lowb was harassed for haveing [REDACTED] eq from the empire and being in teron...My Emperial tongue is FAIR And I Get bits and pieces of what there saying and answer back very vaguely I guess it was taken as being a smart [REDACTED] telling someone you didn't have to answer them When you have no idea whats going on. Its a bad thing I guess. The point of this newbs/lowbs Make sure you understand EVERYTHING going on when you play or you never know what it might get you into... I come back from my break from SK trying to figure out all the changes not talking to anyone leaveing people alone while I decide if Im going to continue to play or if its a permamnent leave..When I get attacked for haveing imperialwrist guards and being a smartass apparently ill admit I might have been smart [REDACTED]..I was TRYINg to be more vague with my answer since I couldn't understand there tongue...But since I wasn't meek and submissive enough I get attacked for not telling them what they wanted.I didn't even get PKed by the two who tried to attack my lowb but Yet im just here to [REDACTED] about SOME PKing...We all know my chars have never died at all and I quit playing because of the PK...If this was true I would have quit playing with zinfalas dieing like 500000 thousand times. Ne ways yeah im out of here sorry about my ranting. Im sure this will just be disregarded seeing as how I never post anyways. MAIN point Newbs watch how you react around people or respond to them even if you can't understand whats going on in the realms exactly there might be things at work you don't see or understand I wonder how a complete newb would have responded to something like this...It can be a bit discourageing I would take it. Ill go crawl back under my rock and leave SK behind me once again.

If you know anything of the empire of bright star. You should know they are not very nice to those who dont give respect. You didnt give respect and got killed. Thats what should happen it is good RP. This is something you should take away and go I was the reason I got killed. I could have done things differently to get out of it.

If you dont understand a tongue here is an idea say so to them if its important they will try a different tongue.

If your trying to be a low level smart [REDACTED] bad things will happen. Same is true anywhere you go if you have nothing to back up your smart-ass-ness and your bluff gets called its bad news for you.

Lowbs should not be killed under any circumstance, they can recieve the same message by being stunned and warned, and I think a good stun pretty much gets the point accross that you're doing something wrong..


Better yet. How about we not scare away every NEW player to this MUD by hitting them for being ignorant. If someone doesnt know any better there is no reason to kill or touch them.

Screw RP that says you should kill newbs or lowbs.

Don't you know though, archaicsmurf? They don't want to keep new players (or want to keep returning ones either). See, they are under the premise that everyone is not a newbie and should already know everything that is going on.

I can relate. I been on the shorter end, quite a few times myself. Guilt by association was majority of it. All the answers to why will, more than likely, be about a current war or something.

Zinfalas is not a newbie player, and he should know that if you act with arrogance towards a group of people that are supposed to be oppressive and follow martial law, you can't expect to get away alive. If you are a newbie, act like one, and do not provoke reactions through arrogance and audacity. It's as simple as that. If you are a lowbie and you do not have power to stand for yourself against others, you CAN'T RP that you are so bad-ass that you can be rude or arrogant or audacious. It's even bad RP. If that was the case, each and everyone of us could roll a lowbie and harass the [REDACTED] out of everyone, knowing that he will simply get away because -omg- "I am a lowbie".

I have had two alts killed at low levels now, both without reason. In both instances nobody knew whether I was new to the game or not.

First case I was sleeping in the sewers in Exile (Initiate) and someone came up and killed me, then just for good measure, gave me the full loot treatment. I did track them down and they apologised and returned what they could. Apparently, they had just been stolen from and thought it was me.

The second time was very very recently. At Jman this time. I was training and some moron came up to me and when the fight ended demanded all my coin. We had a quick chat and he then killed me and took the money. Now, I didn't mind so much, but he could have just stunned me - why kill me? Never before had our players met.

The latter case didn't bother me so much, I was slightly irritated that I had to then go and try and get a pet and make my way back to the area to recover my things. However, in both cases, were I knew to the game I just wouldn't have bothered continuing. I tend to keep myself to myself, I always play my characters as young kids until they are about twenty, I don't throw my weight around and I don't make smart comments, but there are those people out there who will kill you just because they can - and that is not good for the game at all.

First case: Yes, there are indeed some people who are complete idiots out there. Report those cases to immortals so they can look into the matter and act properly. However, a bunch of idiots should not cause a whole game to go into hard-coded steps.

Second case: Although it's frustrating oocly, if that character who did that to yours was ie: a diabolic thief, he acted excellently imo. He took the time to even RP with you before he attacked you for your money. Learn to live with these cases, just like you learn to go through them in real life. You may walk in a bad neigbourhood and get ganked for your money. What do you do? Report in the authorities? Arrange a retribution gank? Whatever? Do the same in your game.
