I was thinking about making a shaman char possibly and I was looking at their spells. I was wondering when it says that you will get some magical bonuses based on race.

What does that mean?

The dolls have enchants on them, but you have to hold them in your hand.

Not to hijack your thread too much but I've always wondered by shamans do not get locate object? Imo the spirits can sense the presence of items and what not as much as a divine power could. But again, that's just me.

I've wondered about that too, the spirits could actually go find the item.
Not sure unless it's some sort of balancing issue.

And as for the dolls, I never really did any testing to see which races did what, and I can't remember if it's affected by your level, the creature/character's level, or both(I think it's both, not sure though). But the dolls can be pretty nice, when I was GM I was getting a lot with great something and moderate something else(I think), helpful when you don't need to hold a weapon or stave.

Like when you hold two "greatly improves magical energy" dolls and send your spirits for a not to friendly visit to a not so close friend

Spirit dolls never give Mana.
