Is there something wrong with the colour settings in this game? Whenever I enable them, I find that my equipment makes heavy use of some colour I can't seem able to change client-side that entirely blanks out large swaths of the text, and so I have to disable it in order to read things.

This is a bit frustrating as I've read some helpfiles which indicate that having colour on is a bit of a necessity.

Hmm. Which client are you using? Sometimes you have to mess with the settings within the client to have them match up with the MUD.

Hello and welcome to the game :drunk:

I would recommend you use Zmud, Gmud or putty(telnet client), the latter two being without restrictions of use (sorta).

I would really rather not change mud clients after this many years. Is that the only way to fix the colour issue? I'd honestly rather play without, then.

Most clients do have a function to change the color of the incoming text. The thing is that is not a common client so not very many people are going to know how to do it, but I would read the help files on your client. That, I think would be your best bet.

If you go to "Session Options" then to "Color Palette" you should be able to adjust your colors. I hope that fixes the problem you're having. If you type in help color it will show the variety of color the game has. Try to match up your color pallet to the name of the colors in help colors.

Welcome to the game! If this didn't help, I'll try delving further into the help forum for Mud Master 2000. I personally don't use it, so I can't test my advice out though. :P

It is quite a common client, IME, and I have been adjusting the colour palette, but none of the darker colours match up with whatever colour is blacking out, even when I compare to help colours. It's only the one colour that does it, and it doesn't respond to changing any colour. :/

I'll keep fiddling a little more, but I may just leave it off; I prefer colours to be muted at best, so finding a rainbow in my inventory or equipment list doesn't sit too well with me in the first place. :(

Have you tried changing your background color? If you change it to solid black all of our darker colors should show up (of course assuming you're willing to change it to solid black).

It is solid black, the background. I could paste in the short descs of an item or two and point out the parts I can't read, if that would help pin down the colour in question. It's just newbie stuff so I guess it wouldn't be a problem.
