Yea so I used to play this game a reaaaaaaaally long time ago, and I'm just wondering what has happened game-wise since I last played, which was probably around 2000ish. I first started playing back before the scout was even created. I took a break and when I started playing again a year or so later I discovered that everything had changed, for example in Taslamar there were statues and such and the main city was under construction and wierd stuff. What has happened ingame with respect to the war between the empire and taslamar? What about the gods? I rememer after the first time I began playing again one or two of the imms had been removed or changed. I don't even remember but I'm sure alot has changed over the years, and I just want to have some knowledge of recent events for roleplaying purposes. Also does anyone know if any really old players still log on at all?
Anyway, thanks alot.

Edit- I just thought of this...maybe only an imm could even answer this but: I just found an old notebook where I wrote down a bunch of directions for areas around Sith'a'niel and Taslamar...would these still be accurate? Have any major changes been done to the terrain or roads?

Help gods and a few questions IC can answer most of that. I'll leave you to the fun of discovery.

The terrain is about 70% the same - most of the cities have been revamped, some of the roads, rivers, and mountains have moved, some cities destroyed, some created. The quality of building is far greater than what it was back then, IMO - much more use of color, more fun scripts, tighter themes.

Lots has changed. In 2000 I don't think we had even split tribunals from cabals. Recall points are located nearby cities. Some of the gods have indeed changed. The bulk of the staff has changed, many are players again. I was a player then, I played a sprite Druid named Ensley.

  • Bard class added
  • Most (all?) newbie areas redesigned
  • Newbie areas given their own recall points
  • Cabals now have a central guadian that holds their relic
  • Defensible "siege" locations and related equipment (eg ballistas)
  • Warring cabals can steal each other's relics to empower their guardian
  • Tribunals (separate from cabals) have law immunity in their own lands
  • Tribunal members can order law NPCs to do their bidding
  • Many quests improved and more implemented (because the underlying script engine has improved so much)
  • Crashes are now so rare, some players request reboots :)
  • TopMudSites ranking linked to our website (okay, not really a MUD feature :)

Plus many more that I can't begin to recall, given the span of time you're asking about.
