To whomever is going around Exile killing all the newbie trainers, It's really not funny at all.

(28) A blue-steel staff lies here.
(28) A pair of polished boots lies here.
(28) A pair of silken gloves lies here.
(28) A pair of silken sleeves lies here.
(28) A silken sash lies here.
(28) A pair of silken pants lies here.
(28) A silk hood lies here.
(75) A scrumptious looking steak is here.
(28) A silk shirt lies here.
> get steak
You get a steak of An'nyel Lothoriel.

The same was found at all the except one of the mentors in Exile. I hope the admin finds out who's doing this. This is totally unacceptable. I can't fathom what the purpose of doing this is. Killing newbies? Making it impossible for newbies to level? If your whole concept of RP is "griefing" newbies, then I honestly hope you find a different MUD to play. I've seen nothing but caring people here. You're definately the odd (wo)man out.

<edit> Edited to remove smilies.

Er, looks like they are killing NPCs to me and I know that area has a viciously quick repop cycle. What is the point in complaining?

No idea who the person in question is, nor am I trying to play devil's advocate, but there is nothing 'unacceptable' about it. Clearly, whoever is killing trainers is doing so in order to level up. Granted, I see your point about it being annoying, but I do not really see any reason for IMM intervention for something as trivial as that. Not to encourage level area patrols, but I am sure if you contacted the right people ICly and informed them of this, you'd get a swift response. Otherwise, just wait for an area repop and train whatever spells/skills you needed before the person in question goes back to killing said NPCs.

..and yes, the repop in that particular area is ridiculously fast.

What exactly is wrong with killing NPCs in a - TRAINING AREA-? That entire area was made for people to kill NPCs in. That's what it's there for.

No, these are the newbie mentors, not the training NPCs. They teach the newbies skills, spells and review the level advancement requests.

If the repop rate is that fast, then there's nothing to whine about--the trainers will be back quickly. Besides, it's not as though there aren't a million other places to train.

As has already been said, the repop time there is very, very short. Even if someone has decided to kill them just before you need them, you're not going to be sitting around for fifteen minutes waiting to learn cure light, or whatever.

Ash, lighties are usually more able to level up by killing monsters than "people" npcs, but for darkies, it will often be better for them to level up by killing people npcs than monsters. It's about the aura thing - you get more exp for killing NPCs that are an opposite aura from yours. Those trainers are "lightie" npcs, so I'm imagining a darkie would get more xp from killing them than the school monsters.

I thought newbie areas were off limits to those who aren't either newbies or mentors? I think that doing this could actually cause you to lose your status as a mentor. I'm not really against leveling, I just seem to remember that being the policy when mentors were created. That and its impossible to go beyond familiar in the newbie zone. Those reasons seem like an invitation for leveling, but I really don't know what to respond with. I think we need Dulrik's say in this situation. My gut instinct is to run and hide. I think it either needs to be addressed at the builder level, addressed with staff intervention and loss of mentor command, or simply be called legitimate and annoying both.

I think that the mentor area is accessible for anyone, it's just the training grounds that are off-limit. I think.
