I'm just curious, and I have no idea if anybody knows. Do most NPCs come with most of their stats naturally at the max?

From my experience as a builder on other MUDs, they don't actually have stats per se, but are considered to have effectively average stats for a character of that level and class. The actual hitpoints, and any bonuses to hit and damage are specced into the NPC at build time. It is quite possible to make a 1st level mage NPC with insane hits, +20 to damage and bash at will. But would any builder here make such an abberation? :drunk: :sleepy:

I have to agree with allikat on this. From my building experience, there are minimums required of NPCs of whatever level but no maximums. Min hp (range) and min dam (range) but no max on either. As far as stats beyond hp and damage output are concerned, the game code sets those.

I always thought NPCs didn't have stats, because it didn't matter how much I would reduce a NPC's str, they would never drop anything due to weight.

I think he means that since haste increases DEX the shopkeeper can hold more.

Whoa, Where'd that come from?

I think the NPCs stats are either specifically set by the imm designer, or if not just set to the average for the race/class.

The attributes of a NPC are determined by class, race, and level. The statistics, (those that don't show in attribute) are variable by designer's choice, but there is a top and a bottom end to the range for every NPC.
