Post subject:  Little Evil Player needing help

Hi, I'm fairly new to SK, I have played a good little character that has basically got swarmed over and given help and time when needed, however I often times on any game I land on play an evil character. I am lost and struggling here and admittingly needing some serious help. I've tried for the past four days to get some help, I've sent out a few random tells and used the mentor command so if anyone can take five to ten minutes out of their playing time to give me some help and guidance, I'd really -really- appreciate it.

You are probably going to -hate- that character. Good luck, though. You'll definitely need it.

My advice is to re-roll if you still need major help in the game. So, if I were you I would:

1. Keep the hellion class. I love this class, I learned my first things about PK with the hellion class and it is a great PK class for experienced players, too. Also, since it's tightly related with a church, you will get tons of RP there. Not only that, but due to the fact that your alignment will be aberrant, you will not find difficulties in RPing someone evil, since aberrant characters do not throw themselves into insanely evil acts (like a diabolical character for example) and are bound to their honor-code.

2. Don't go deep-elf. It's a GREAT race for RP reasons, but has many vulnerabilities. The worst part, though, is that there will be people who will be attacking you on sight. Avoid that by not being a deep-elf since you are a newbie to the game, imo. Better roll a human or a half-elf.

3. Since you still depend on players' help, some people often choose to play a female character. Believe it or not, I have witnessed people who pretend to be hardcore players and never depending on such things practically drool over my shims and offer them free equipment and everything.

4. Choose a starting point with many people that would be available to help. Teron is not a bad choice at all, and the Northern Wastes also have a lot of people this period.

That's all I can think of right now.

I am a female - Not sure if that's because I have a harder name or not, but I do like the advice and will give a try at re-rolling another race. What is the city in the Northern Wastes? Teron is where I started and tried a few times to get a mentor with the command. I'll try another city too. Maybe down the road I'll try the deep elf again ;) And yeah - I was confused at training for awhile and walked myself to Exile because that was the novice area that I knew but of course it doesn't have hellion training there!

Read the enmity help files (there's a huge enmity between elves and deep-elves), plus every lightie that RPs a crusader (rather poorly perhaps) will attack a deep-elf on sight. The capital of the Northern Wastes is Krychire, unless something changed too recently (due to some Global RP event). Also, if I were you I would avoid areas that are very paladin-related like Exile, at least while you are very young; they have very little to offer you, and much potential danger. For the very beginning I would hang around Krychire, Teron, Menegroth (in the Empire of the Bright Sun) and I would dare some Nerina in Zhensh perhaps. Note that these are not leveling areas I am referring to. However, if you hang around people in the above cities (with the exception of Nerina) they will be able to help you regarding places to train, In-Character. If you would ask someone from Exile, though, even if the player does know where you should level, In-Character he would never propose to you to go ie: to a lightie village and slaughter innocent villagers

Rolling in the northern wastes is probably better for getting help than rolling in Uxmal. The tribunal in the north is quite active with a large player base, there's almost always someone on to give a helping hand or point you in the right direction.

AFAIK though it's impossible to roll a char in NW right now because Krychire is closed.

Unless something changed the last few days, it was impossible to do it.

Yeah that isn't really true. While most people will generally be big jerks to you, newbie killing is still against the rules.

No matter how much you want to play blind, you know what I said is true. :P
