Post subject: | Specialize |
I was having a discussion with a friend about specialize, and he had an interesting point. Is it possible to spec in the most damaging weapon, and thereby make it more damaging? Is it possible to spec in the most accurate weapon, and thereby make it more accurate? Is it possible to spec in the fastest weapon, and thereby make it faster? His reasoning was that, like giant strength for a giant, there might be a limit as to how fast, accurate, or damaging a weapon can be and specializing in that weapon won't add any value. Anyone have any clue? sleeper |

No idea on the accuracy. Specialize DOES NOT affect damage at all. Specialize DOES make every weapon faster no matter what.(even if it doens't really make it ~faster~ exactly it doesn't matter because it lets you go past the limit of 4 hits, and you get 5 hits WITHOUT haste and 6 WITH haste.) So technically yeah, it makes even the fastest weapon faster, since without spec you couldn't go past 4 hits without haste, and you couldn't hit 6 at all without Specialize. |

I am 99% sure that with Specialize, it gives a boost to accuracy and speed. The only damage increase you would see would be a result of the extra accuracy and speed. And as a side note, specialize increases with character level aswell. A vet merc won't get as much of a boost from spec as a GM merc would. |

Perhaps, but I've never seen someone spec in something like an epee, but weapons that could've been faster... I guess I'll grab an eepe and get a GM haste and see how many attacks I get before spec. If it's five or six, than I answered my own question. sleeper |

Epee with haste = 5 attacks. Epee with haste and spec/fury = 6 attacks. There's a cap of maximum one additional attack per speed modifying factor. The only way you'd be able to reach seven would be by having both spec and fury. |

Why spec epee? Just ask someone who's specced kama, since they're the same speed. |

A sprite swashie with dual kamas owns face. It is that simple. |
