Post subject: | Alias |
I keep trying to enter in an alias, one I have had before and accidentally deleted it and I keep getting a message saying it is an invalid alias. I have no idea what would make an alias invalid though and since I have used this exact one before, I am at a loss. Thoughts? |

Invalid aliases are when you try to assign an alias to a command that's already in the game. For example, you can't assign an alias to the letter 'h' because 'h' already stands for 'hit' in the game. Try out a different combination of letters. |

Code: alias h test
Alias added. Try posting what you are typing in the game so we can tell you what you are doing wrong. |

I thought that may have been the case, but I had it assigned to the same word in the past and when I type that word I get the "Huh? Type 'help' for a list of commands." message. I have also tried it with different words and just random letter combinations and still get the same thing. EDIT: This is what I had in the past and tried to reenter: Quote: alias thunder , closes her $7$Ie$7y$7$Ies$7, begining a soft chant under her $3$Ibr$7$Iea$3$Ith$7. ; pe voice rises in timbre, the $3$Ia$3i$3$Ir$7 around you begins to $3t$7i$3ngl$7e and the scent of $7$Io$6$Iz$7$Io$6$Ine$7 fills your nostrils. ; pe words are drowned by a sharp $1$Icr$3$Ia$1$Ick$7$I of $0$Ith$7u$0$Ind$7e$0$Ir.

Hmm. Interesting. Well, there are certain commands that you can't alias, which is when I've received the 'invalid alias' message. I assumed hit would be one of them. But, yes, seeing what you're trying to alias would be helpful. |

There is the alias limit to consider. You get 20. There is also a safety in place so that they do not loop. You cannot follow the alias with a command of the same word. e.g. 'alias b bash elf' would not work because b is a truncation of the bash command. |

Don't mean to sound like a broken record, but I had this exact same alias already aliased about 20 minutes ago, I just accidentally deleted it, so I copied and pasted from my file figuring it would work again. I've only got 12 aliases right now, so this one would be the 13th. I edited my previous post to include what it is I am trying to alias, but here you go again: Quote: alias Thunder , closes her $7$Ie$7y$7$Ies$7, begining a soft chant under her $3$Ibr$7$Iea$3$Ith$7. ; pe voice rises in timbre, the $3$Ia$3i$3$Ir$7 around you begins to $3t$7i$3ngl$7e and the scent of $7$Io$6$Iz$7$Io$6$Ine$7 fills your nostrils. ; pe words are drowned by a sharp $1$Icr$3$Ia$1$Ick$7$I of $0$Ith$7u$0$Ind$7e$0$Ir. Ugh...I wish I knew what was going on all I am doing is copying and pasting and it keeps giving me the invalid alias prompt back. When I use the same keyword but with different commands it works... |
