Hey all,

Played SK for about a year in the 90s and stopped by very briefly several years ago. I created a character a couple of days ago and didn't remember dogmatic being one of the alignments so I chose that as my alignment.

I looked through the newbie FAQs and didn't see this one answered. If you're playing a priest does your alignment have to match your god's? So if you chose dogmatic as your alignment are you limited to one of the neutral gods?

Thanks in advance :)

Not at all. Many of the spheres of influence in the pantheon are very open to interpretation. Just depends on how you want to look at them.

Some white aura faiths only permit white aura chars... grey aura gods, welcome any aura, and not too sure about the dark aura faiths....

This tends to be a religion specific decision. Some light/dark aura faiths do not permit dogmatic or other grey characters, while some do. Is there a specific religion you were curious about?

Sadr was a religion I was curious about. Though I could be swayed elsewhere for example if there's an inactive religion that really could use a newbie priest.

Also wasn't sure which religions were acceptable in which kingdoms these days. It used to be if you were in an eastern kingdom you had to be in one of the darker churches or you were mistrusted. And if you were in the west you'd be in trouble unless you were light or grey!

Not sure about the kingdoms thing, but I sent you a PM on Sadr's faith.

That is true, Mundufisen, but with something like this and how the two HFs view things, it is no longer cut and dry on letting people in, there has to be suitable RP to support a grey (or any non-dark) aligned character being in the faith. That is not saying that they will be turned away or forced to jump a million hoops, but they will be scrutinized to make sure they are playing the alignment for what it is and not to be an "evil in disguise" to avoid certain situations.

If I remember correctly, the issue pertaining to the dogmatic alignment was that it was the answer for law-abiding grey-hearted folk (since before it was just really for the anarchic folk and the selfish bastards)...meaning those who would go toward Ain for example.

SK Character: Retired Troll
Dogmatic guy raised in a household that followed Sadr could grow up to consider Sadr's will to be the "law" and abide by it strictly. Though it really just depends on how the current HF's would feel about it. There's room for it to happen rp-wise imo, but not a -huge- amount of room.
